High Heel Boots Legacy

High heel boots have been a fashion staple for quite some time. They were widely popular in the 1960's with their popularity ignited by the "These Boots were Made For Walking" song by Nancy Sinatra. High heel boots from past years were styled slightly different from the high fashion type boots (pictured to the right) available current day.

Instead, the boots worn in the 1960's tended to have a wider heel; however, they did have the platform sole as shown to the right -- which continues to be popular.

Just below the 1960's white boots, I have a picture of a pair of high fashion style white high heel boots so you can see how the design has changed.

High heel boots were also popularly wore with "hot pants" which were really very short, shorts. The high heel boots and the hot pants style combination are shown below.

Changes in High Heel Boots

In retrospect, there has not been a gargantulous change in the style of high heel boots, except, maybe for the heel. Relative to the type of the materials the boots are made of, there really has not been that much of a change.

In fact, the model wearing the hot pants and white boots worn quite a lot in the late 1960's and 1970's could very well be a 2011 model in current day, except for the wide heel on her boots. Short shorts, or "hot pants" are really still in vogue (they are just not called "hot pants" any longer); however, you would probably see more models wearing very short skirts, or even skorts, instead of the "hot pants" shown below. There is a saying that the "More things change, the more they stay the same", which seems to be the case with the styling for the high heel boots!

Regarding the white sweater the model is wearing with her red "hot pants" and white boots, just remove in your mind the low hanging waist belt, and maybe remove her hat, and she could be up to date with today's styles.

What Celebrities are wearing in High Heel Boots

So what are the celebrities wearing relative to boots? In addition to sexy high heel boots, celebrities are wearing tall sexy boots with jeans. Kim Kardashian is sexy with her jeans tucked inside of her black high heel boots.

Looks like white is definitely not the color of choice for boots in the celebrity world. If you plan to add high heel boots to your selection of high heels, I would recommend that you stay away from white, if possible. This avoidance of white high heel boots does not originate from the fact that celebrities seem to be fixated on black high heel boots. The truth of the matter is white boots may be relegated to cheer leading, etc., instead of mainstream fashion. That being said, I do have a picture of a pair of today's white high heel boots, just in case you may decide that white boots are ok for you after all.

As with most high heels and shoes in general, there are lots of colors in high heel boots for you to choose from. If you have an outfit that you think is hard to match with a pair of high heel boots, just look further by shopping online, or in stores to find the colors you are looking for. Eventually, you should find the high heel boots in your choice of color!

As I mentioned before, the choice of color for high heel boots is definitely not white. I have pictures to the right of some celebs rocking their high heel boots, mostly in black.

As pictured, some celebs deviate from the black high heel boots, and opt for the light tan color--which is also very fashionable and eye-catching. Of course you have your own preference whether or not you like black, tan, or even white high heel boots. Feel free to use what the celebrities are wearing as a gauge for your own tastes; however, at the end of the day, you are the one who will be wearing the high heel boots, so choose a pair in a color and style that you like and enjoy wearing!

Oh and don't forget the sexy lure of red boots in the fashion game battle of the retailers to get your dollars for high heel boots! And I cannot leave out yellow as a color option! Very attention getting and will surely turn some heads! You can really turn some heads with boots and a bikini as shown below!

As you can see, high heel boots seem to have no limit in styles, from the length of the boot, to the height of the high heels and the height of the platform sole -- for platform styled boots.

Lately, I've been seeing a lot of the higher, thigh high boots, ever those higher than those made famous by Juliet Robers in the Pretty Woman movie as shown here. Sexy huh?

Wear gorgeous hosiery with your beautiful high heel boots

To bring dramatic attention to your high heel boots, why not try a different style of hosiery, for example fishnets? I would recommend fishnet hosiery be used with high heel boots for a night on the town, rather than wearing these to, for example work. However, I once observed a woman walking down the hall at work with fishnets, and her black boots, fishnet combination seemed perfectly ok. As always, you have a choice to wear high heel boots whereever and whenever you feel comfortable.

I have included beneath the fishnet stocking black high heel boots as well as a pair of boots that are similar to the ones that I wear to work, as well as other places. The difference between the black pair of high heel boots pictured, and the pair I have is mine has only one bucket at the bottom, they are designed with fashionable wrinkling in the leather, and there is a nice cuff around the top. Wear High Heel Boots all Year Round!

However, I tend to wear my high heel boots only during the winter season, but there is no problem if you decide to wear high heel boots all season round!

In fact, I was watching a TV show just recently, and guess what the host of the show was wearing? That's right. She was wearing a pair of black high heel boots that stopped just beneath her knees along with a plain short sleeved black sheath dress, with a wide leather belt that matched her high heel boots. Quite a striking outfit!

It did not seem strange to me that she was wearing boots in the summer! That's why it's important to match up the right outfit with your high heel boots, in order to get the effect that you want. In her case, I thought of high fashion, instead of winter wear being worn to protect against the cold, albeit during the summer!

Wear High Heel Boots that will Complement your Outfit

Which reminds me, the high heel boots you choose to wear should, of course, complement your outfit. In some cases it would be ok to wear low, ankle style boots instead of the ones that reach your mid leg, and higher dependent upon the outfit you are wearing.

I recommend you look at yourself in a full length mirror, to see if your high heel boots really matches your outfit, and does not appear to be a pair of high heel boots that you just decided to wear because they were the first pair of boots you could either find or gets your hands on.

High heel boots are part of your complete outfit, and do not stand alone. For example, a stylish pair of tall black high heel boots, worn, lets say, with a long, flowing skirt, would give you maybe a cowboy look, instead of looking fashionable. If that is the look you are going for, then fine. But in my opinion, high heel boots go better with a short skirt with a hem above the knees or higher.

Are there height considerations when choosing High Heel Boots?

You may be wondering if your physical height affects the type high heel boot you can wear. Of course, if you are tall, you pretty much can take your pick of any type or style of high heel boots. However, if you are on the petite side, you need to be careful not to choose high heel boots that will shorten your legs. For example ankle boots may be a challenge for you. But taller boots will look great on you and will tend to elongate your legs to give you a taller frame. Not to worry though, you can also wear any type of high heel boots with jeans, no matter what your height may be.

Whatever type high heel boots you may choose to wear, just remember to keep your shoe wardrobe diversified with lots of different styles and colors for various occasions.
